Start here!

From this page you will find examples of schemes of work, lesson ideas, worksheets and notes on using this web site in your teaching. Begin at the Directory, which lists materials in the order in which topics appear in Icons itself.

You will also find two closely related areas, one which deals with the Catholic Teaching in Icons, the other which covers technical matters concerning the Web Site.

Teaching & Learning Materials

You will also be able to access teaching materials which you can incorporate into your lessons. This material is of three kinds

  • Online activities. Web pages which direct a learning activity.

  • Online resources. Web pages which themselves provide, or direct the learner to  information that could be incorporated into a learning activity.

  • Downloadable resources. These are documents, usually in Word format, which you can download and printout.

In practice, the online activities and resources often overlap, and resource pages may have suggested activities which the teacher may choose to adapt or ignore.

The Pupil areas contain links to the Online Activities and Resources, but not to the downloadable pages. Remember though, that pupils can easily get access to these files through the Teacher pages if they wish.

Also note, if you want to use one of the ICT activities on the site with a class, ensure that you first have a run through in order to familiarise yourself with the task.
