Problem of the Month

This competition is only open to pupils of Painsley R.C. High school, (sorry). See if you can find the answer to this problem. The first, second and third persons giving the correct solution to Mr Challinor will win a number of merit points.

Birthday Party

Peter, John, Robert, Susan, Theresa, Ursula and Victoria have their birthdays on successive days, but not necessarily in that order. Victoria's birthday is first and Robert's is on a Wednesday. John's birthday is as many days before Ursula's as Susan's is after Ursula's. Peter's birthday is as many days before Theresa's as it is after Ursula's. On what days of the week do their birthdays fall?

If you have enjoyed doing this problem there are plenty more available from the "Painsley Puzzler", published monthly by the Mathematics Department at no cost. You can get a copy from the library. See a member of staff for details.
