Religious Education
The GCSE Course
The GCSE course is made up of two subject areas, which are closely related. These are
the study of Christian Life through Mark's Gospel, and the consideration of the meaning of
the Roman Catholic tradition for the lives of Christians today. Each area of study has a
final examination of 1 hour and 45 minutes. Students must also produce one piece of
coursework for each area of study.
In each subject area, the emphasis is upon the meaning for the lives of people today.
The GCSE course is in no way concerned with learning facts that might be thought irrelevant
- on the contrary, it is about discovering and understanding how and why Mark's Gospel
and the Roman Catholic Tradition have meaning for Christians today.
On the intranet are a number of files which provide useful information for you as you
follow the course. The resources will be particularly important for researching and
writing assignments, and for revision. This Directory page is a catalogue of all the
resources which are available.
